Refilling Dell cartridges

I have a friend who has a Dell (Lexmark ?) printer and I was going to have a go at refilling cartridges for him. They are very similar to the HP cartridges I have filled in the past. My question is, do the Dell printers "remember" the last two cartridges like HP in an attempt to discourage refilling or do they do something else equally devious?
