I have a IP6700D with chipped individual carts. I've been trying to refill them, but quite often the printer does not read them as full any longer or go no more than half way through the ink in them and declares them empty. Does anyone now how to deal with this problem? Even though I have all this ink my printer is still completely incapacitated right now?

Try holding down the resume button for 5 long seconds and that will stop ink monitoring on that cartridge, you could do it on the remaining cartridges as well and then the problem will be solved.
Or you could buy a chip resetter which is a much safer and better option then turning off ink monitoring.. :)

Thank you for your help, but which one you are calling the resume button? I don't see on the printer one marked that way. I guess I'll try the chip resetter If you think that's the better option.

There are usually two buttons on most Canon printers, one is the on/off button and the other one is the paper feed/resume button (its the one that flashes orange).
The resetter would be more suitable for you to use all right , just make sure you use quality inks.. :)

On the iP6700D, the OK button serves as the resume button.

Better yet, get a chip resetter from UK here:

http://www.octoink.co.uk/products/Canon-CLI%2d8%2fPGI%2d5-Redsetter-[Battery].html

Fill your cartridges and then slip them into the resetter. That will reset the chip attached to the cartridges.
Now your ink monitor will show cartridge full and function normally. See my Youtube movie here:

If you are located in U.S., Precison Colors offers resetter here:

Or here if you are in Canada:
