Thank-you for ideas and thoughts. Sadly its beginning to look like ordering from precision-colors may not be possible as he is not responding. Annoying that he drops out just as I decide on him. So that leaves;
Hobbicolors. I suspect much of the grumbling you read is just due to it very popular and thus drawing more comments. Certainly plenty of people seem keen to reorder. But describing itself as more saturated than Canon still makes me wonder if I can cope with adjusting to that.
http://www.refillink.biz/ supposedly has image specialist ink in europe. But would they be happy to send just 400ml of ink to me in the uk for a reasonable price or are they just for bigger orders?

A search for mp520 only shows jetec black pigment, but they have inktec black seperately or kmp which people say is better. But having only one black cartridge in my mp520 will blacker black interfere with the photos?
Ah too many decisions. Maybe I do just go with hobbicolors just for the ease of it. I may well not be sophisticated enough to notice any color difference anyway.
