I have several ip4300s all refilled with Hobbicolors UW8 inks. I print photos all the time. I don't understand why you are having a problem with blue. The blue printed by Hobbicolors ink is to me the best of blue I ever got from other inks, including Image Specialist ink. It is also the blue most closely match the OEM blue. The problem of HC inks is generally in printing black and white. The gray tones will come out with some color cast in them. But when you print color photos all you should get is beautiful vibrant colors and they are fairly close to OEM. If you have a preference of the skin tone you just need to slightly tweak it before printing. I believe your problem is in how your color management is set up.
No color management problem here, what paper are you using?

I have a hp Photosmart C5580 printer. I want to get the very best, longest lasting prints available. I now use Ilford professional inkjet photo paper, and Stratitec ink for refilling. This is dye ink and I would like pigment. What is the best paper and ink, I could use? That any of you have used or are using now.

I would also like to know if you have a best cartridge, ie, oem empty or used, and who your favorite suppliers are.

I am new here, like today, and I hope this is appropriate for this thread.

The best way to achieve this is to use only HP inks and premium photo papers everything else is simply a compromise.. :|

Ias the the groom was wearing a dark blue suit and in picture it looks bright blue
Hobbicolors UW8 ink has the best blue of all inks I have used. It is strange for you to have a blue problem with the ink. Are you color managing your work flow correctly? When I used Image Specialist ink a few years ago I had a problem in getting deep saturated blue color to print as blue as Canon OEM. The problem bothered me for a very long time until I switched to Hobbicolors UW8 ink. This happened to more than just one printer but several like mp780 and ip4200, ip4300. I shot a wedding in Maui once and the groom was a military officer wearing his uniform of a dark blue suit. The Hobbicolors UW8 ink was the ink that was able to reproduce the dark blue correctly. I used default Canon profiles to print on several different paper glossy or matte. They all printed the blue correctly. I think you must have a color management problem with the ink.

You probably do not know you have a color management problem. Had you known you had a problem you probably would have known how to correct it already. How do you print your picture? How did you set up your camera to take picture? How about downloading some images from the internet and print them? You can reinstall the printer and its software to reset everything to default. Print with the default without changing any setup that may change the color management.
