Been a long time since I posted in this forum. I came here before I bought a canon IP6700 and got some good advice. Well I am still using that IP6700, but the printhead finally went to the dust. a Still prints black ok but the colors are all out of whack now. Here is my question to all of you intelligent people. I just was a MG8220 with a instant 175.00 dollars off. Can get the thing for 130.00 bucks with free shipping. I always refilled that IP6700 and want to refill the MG8220. I know they now have chips and would have to get a chip resetter. Who has a good kit with good quality ink? I guess I should ask if this ink cartridge is refillable?. It uses the PGI225 and the CLI226. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me.

I doing a little shopping and noticed the Canon PIXMA MG5420, the 8220 is only 30.00 dollars more, but I don't know if I really need it. 30 bucks is 30 bucks. Does anyone really see that much difference between these printers? Thanks Tudor for the info.

There are currently two IP67000 printers for sale on eBay at reasonable prices.

There is no resetter for the CLI-251/PGI-250 cartridges that MG5420 uses. A new set of XL cartridges (that can be refilled, but you lose ink monitoring) is $95...

MG8220 uses CLI-226/PGI-225 which you can reset. It also uses an extra grey cartridge. And has a CCD scanner.

Between these two I would go for the MG8220.
