Purchasing an old stock epson 1500w printer that has never been used for 6+ years, will the printhead be ok?

Hi,

There's someone local to me whose selling a brand new epson 1500w that hasn't been opened for a long time. I know that typically manufacturers use a protective fluid in the printhead to keep it in good condition. I'm just slightly concerned that as it has never been used and has been sat there for a long time that it could have dried out. I know this is particularly important when a inkjet printer is used but I don't know if it applies to brand new printers. Does anyone know how likely it is that the printhead would still be ok?

Thanks!

Is there a chance that you can give the printer back in case you cannot get it working with typical efforts ? Do you already have inks and cartridges for this model ? Or why would you go for it ? I can't say for sure you'll get it working but I have seen it in other cases that new printers got to life after years of storage.
