Manuchau,... Now you have me really confused... Who just went out of business,.... Atlanticinkjet,.... or TrueStar. If it is TrueStar, then what are they using now for Compatible ink carts. I would assume that they still get used original Canon ink carts and fill them again and put a new lable on them.

Then you mention that you do "A lot of Refilling". If so what is you web site so we can check it out.

Going back to the TrueStar refilled ink carts. Once they refilled them they must reset them else they would not work again in any Canon Printer. So in my customers case, she used that ink cart and it worked fine until it went empty. Then I refilled it and tried to use the resetter and it failed. So what happened and where to cause this to fail.

As an additional test, I just took the 2nd ink cart from my customer and attempted to reset it. It would not reset at all. It gave me the same symptoms as the first resetter that I had to return. The "Blue" Resetter comes with a small plastic guide to accomodate either the CLI-8 or the PGI-5 wide ink carts. What ever the design problem is, I took the guide off of the main unit and manually held the ink cart to the pins, and "GUESS WHAT", IT DID A FULL RESET". So it appears that this "Blue Resetter" has some physical design flaws as it fails more than it
works.

I'll contact Atlanticinkjet tomorrow and see what the problem it. I'm NOT sorry for starting this thread,... this is exactly what this forum is all about,.. bringing up problems, and finding solutions.

Hi Trigger 37, yesterday wanted to reply but you just replied back that you have resolved the reset problem.

I wanted to say, This is very common with the resetter. It happens to the red resetter as well. The problem is just that the cartridges chip did not touch the contact with the pin well. I don't think this is a big problem. Just retry a couple of times. You don't have to remove the plastic guide. Just try a couple of times when the first few attempt to reset was unsuccessful. I still remember when people having similar problem with the red resetter and some sellers was quick to say this was due to circuitary design of the red resetter and what burned out etc..... And that blue resetter was better.

To be honest this resetter regardless of whatever color of the resetter, as long as it reset the chip that should be fine. I have used the red resetter for many times had not experience any problem with the burned out with the internal circuit.

Hi, Trigger 37... that is good info... I thought it might have been a defective chip, but it was the resetter after all.

Atlantic Inkjet has closed it's Canadian Office and warehouse recently. The website is still up, and their American affiliate is still operating. Anyone ordering in Canada now has to have their order sent to them from the USA.

I live in a town of 600 people high in the remote mountains of British Columbia, Canada(West Coast) and I'm the lone printer guy around here. My "territory" covers a number of small rural towns. When I say I do a lot of refilling, it is primarily Canons and some HPs that I have been refilling for the last few years. My market is tiny and I don't have a website. I'm a one-man operation and have been dealing with the owner of Atlantic Inkjet, Richard Walker, for 6 years. Because we have done a lot of business together, and because we trust each other, he offered me some items at discount prices just before he closed down. I have been selling the Truestar brand for years now, and I know that they are genuine Canons. I do use the redsetter to reset these, and only one chip has failed in 3 years.

Because my market is so tiny, I do buy and sell (mostly buy) on eBay Canada from time to time to increase my meager income. I did manage to pick up a couple of months ago a few brand-new MP520s, MP530s, and ip4500s which I still have in storage and will sell over time to local buyers.

Whoever is from Canada and is a member of this Forum, and who will be needing one of these printers, let me know and I will set up an eBay listed auction for you.

Manuchau,... This information is great to know. When you refill the TrueStar, since the ball is already gone and replaced with some kind of
plug, how do you refill it???? I been fixing Canon and HP printers for several years and have sold many on eBay. I also retill ink for a few people in my area because they are friends and do have the skill, patients, or time to do it themselves. It just about pays for the ink, but my time is worth much more than just ink.

Also, since Atlantic has been sold, they say they have converted over to the Universal Ink. The question is, do they refill the TrueStar ink carts or do they just get them from china and resell. My real question will be, are they putting universal ink in the TrueStar ink carts???? If this is the case I will not recommend that product to anyone, as I totally don't believe in "UNIVERSAL INK". I'll be looking for someone that
provides compatible Canon ink carts with chips, fully reset, and capable of being reset.

trigger 37, I thought durafirm (the universal ink that you mentioned) is not from china. But I could be wrong too.

lin,,,... DuraBrite is the trademark name for high quality Epson ink. The people that are using the Durafirm name are just trying to use a
similar name that sound familiar to many since it has been heavily advertized.

Truestar cartridges are made in the USA as marked on most of the cartridge boxes, and each cartridge comes with a return address envelope to California for the empties.
I don't know whose inks they use or if they manufacture their own ink. I do know, that customers overall are pleased with them, and also like the ones I refill...which was ink from Image Specialists. I will be ordering Image Specialists ink from member mikling in the future now that I know he is the Canadian supplier.

I refill these from the top---either by drilling a new hole near the plug, or by removing the plug with a small twist drill and using a new 9/32 plug.

Durabrite is Epson's pigment based ink. They want to emphasize that printouts made with that ink are durable and will not fade over long periods of time.
