Printer off-line problem

I purchased a new iMac 24 to utilize OS 15 and a new Brother printer MFC-J1205W. Since installing the necessary printer software from the Brother web site, the printer shows as off-line in System Preferences. Any suggestions on how to correct this issue?

The steps I would take in your situation:

1. Remove all installed printer drivers and software from computer & factory reset/initialize the new printer.
2. Use a known good printer cable, without using a hub. Disconnect all other USB devices besides the keyboard and mouse.
3. Follow the installation instructions provided by Brother carefully and install the printer.
4. Check if both the printer & computer are up to date (they should be compatible)
5. Use your warranty, something might be defective.
