Mardulia, before you give up, can you check that the timing strip is positioned in front of that little hook on the right side?

This is your picture and the strip is behind the hook:

After having reattached the strip as Tudor suggests, you could also try to improvise a new spring using a suitable rubber band to make sure the strip is taught, I don't think there is any way a coil spring that has been stretched can be repaired.

I hope Tudors suggestion plus this this works, but I think the chance of success is small.

The spring looks ok to me, at least from what can be seen in Mardulia's and jtoolman's photos.

Hi guys! I think the printer is damaged past diy repair, given everything that's been said on this thread and all the different ways I've tried to fix it. I've found one on ebay for $100. :) I'm happy with that.

I am sorry I had to be so hard on your printer but if its broken beyond repair then dont fix it. :smack

Its not nice anytime to lose a trusted old printer but youll get over it
and I do hope the new one works out far better for you in the long run.. :thumbsup

Apologies for my lack of continued involvement on this thread btw...

Got caught up in rewriting manuals, gutting the house (Translation: cleaning and binning stuff!) and sourcing a new phone...

Sorry to hear it's not worked out as hoped but if nothing else there's a considerable resource on here now that may well save some other 2200/2100 owner from sobbing into their morning coffee...

... and yep... Get thee well soon Mardulia... :)
