I have a KX-MB271 copier/printer. It uses the KX-FAT92 tromer cartridge and the KX-FAD93 drum;

Does anyone know if there is a 'chip' on either the cartridge or the drum? It appears that the cartridge has a opening at one end for refilling. The owners manual shows a error message regarding the drum life that tells me you can't reuse or renew the drum when it says it has to be replaced. The best price I found for that drum is $87 delivered. I paid $100 (plus tax) for the copier/printer and I don't feel like paying the same for just the drum.
Input??
