Picked up a Deskjet HP932c workhorse in Value Village for $5.99 plus tax.
It had a full 45 black cart and an empty 78 colour.
I put some universal ink in the colour cart and literally breathed new life into it until the yellow appeared. Left it to soak all night in some Windex and then did a cart shuffle to get it accepted.
It's hard to beat these HP's for text output and all for the cost of a couple of coffees.
