for fun, quick poll for oldest printer that you are still actively using:

- HP deskjet 870cxi, early 90's, ink carts are at least 10 years old, no cleaning cycles. loaded with envelopes, so when i need to print an envelope i just change my default printer.

back in the early 90's i used to do a large mass printing/mailing. used to print for hours at a time until ink or paper ran out. have an IP4500 ready to swap in but this one just keeps going and going.

- HP deskjet 930C, year ? for testing HP catridges 78, 15 and 45, which I refill for my brother and a friend. It is a handy feature, that you can test cartridges without having the printer connected to a computer, just by using push button codes.

My default printer is Canon Pixma ip5200.

BJC-4200 which was in storage for about 5 years, pulled it out, refiled the carts, did a clean and away it went :) Early 2000's from memory...

I wish I still had my Canon BJC-1000:

While not the first printer I had or the first one I refilled, it was the printer that really got hooked on refilling.

I could refill those carts with almost anything and the heads would never clog. I printed zillions of fliers for school, pictures, and tons of other stuff. The biggest downside was the tri-color cartridge and the fact that they only accepted a tiny bit of ink in each chamber.

I think I ended up tossing the little guy once I got a bunch of i560's from Fry's Electronics. Now I wish I had held onto it. :(

My oldest printer now is actually an Epson C86... All the older ones have long since been consigned to recycling or the dump..

I have 3 printers connected to seperate PC`s, MP600 , iP4000 , and iP4200. The 600 is the everyday printer. The 4000 is the oldest , (and the best) , it had its original head replaced about a year ago. I was purchased either in 2004 or 2005 , when they first came out. (I have a spare 4000 chassis as well in storage).

17 years, very nice !!!

UPDATE on my old HP 870Cxi that i only use for envelopes.

yesterday i replaced the HP 51645A ink cart, expiration date of 2002 and it works fine.

i have a spare IP4500 waiting as a spare, but this 15 year old HP keeps chugging along.
