Nvidia Shield TV 3D Printed Stand

Anyone know how much something like that would cost to print in the UK (Obviously ignoring initial outlay of a 3D printer) but in terms of plastic filament, electric etc)???

The official Nvidia Shield TV stand costs a ridiculous £20-30 (depending on where you look) even though the official thing is cast Aluminium i still think its a bit high in price.

Believe it or not thats the first real life 'HOME' 3D printed thing ive seen which ive found interesting and practical, rather than odd, quirky or pretty to just look at (at least thats my personal opinion on 'most' 3D printed things).

If the estimated cost is not that bad i may have to investigate 3D printing some more or cash
bribe one of you regulars on here to do a little project.

Hi @CakeHole, I am sorry you have always had bad things to say about owing a 3D printer but are now reappraising your thinking because this item has opened your eye to the wonders of the 3D world.

Just to show you how good 3D printers can be, I am willing to print the TV Stand and post it to you for nothing, but first you’ll have to source a proper STL file first, the one in this Video has a fault in it...

@The Hat Thank you for your more than kind offer, i could not accept you produce one freely though. What you have contributed here just in the short time i have been a member is beyond exceptional. I would have to insist that at the least you allow me cover the costs of the item and postage..... Damn to the .STL file being faulty, ill have a look round and see if i can find another similar project, i thought that one was kind of cool though with the "Nvidia Shield" lettering on its side.

3D printing i do NOT think is a bad thing its just on a smaller 'home' based system ive never really came across anything which i would find have a functional use. Printing the quirky or pretty to look at is fine (EG figurines, fidget spinners and similar) but things like that just are normally not for me. I could be wrong, maybe i just have a small imagination and there are a million functional things i could personally use one for, the limit i think for me with a home system is how big an item is that you can print. Now If i could afford a larger 'commercial style' machine which would need its own room or shed just to home it then, oh heck yes i could go crazy with printing things. (id have a go at my own bicycle which would be a laugh, shelving and cabinets, swing set or similar garden items for kids and a lot more).

Anyway @The Hat keep up the great work, ill have to start trying to visit here more again, at the moment i seem to only find time every 2-5(ish) weeks. It is a real shame as this is such a great, helpful forum and one not full of spam or rudeness like so many nowadays.

Hi @CakeHole, Now you weren’t going to get the Nvidia Shield TV stand for free because my offer has strings attached to it in a very subtle way, I was attempting to show you how good, easy and practical 3D printers are.

The good news is, the STL file that I got yesterday didn’t work but it does today, and I managed to make a good Gcode file, so I reckon we’re back in business, and if you want to cover the cost of the P&P that should be plenty...

Sorry for the delay in responding, ive decided i may buy myself a 3D printer. Going to look through this section of the forum carefully and around the web to find something in the cheap and recommended £300-500 range (unless i can be really scrooge like and get something good for even less). To be honest i do not think i will use it much, but ill never know unless i try

Wow, congrats!!!

You could be cool like @The Hat and I, and get a CR-10 I was also happy with my Monoprice mini for the size / cost. Both are pretty much fully assembled and pretty reliable (especially the MP mini).

@CakeHole Firstly, you will not regret buying a 3D printer though you will find expletives that you never knew existed when you begin what I call the 3D apprenticehip. For the intial period of getting the bed level and getting prints to adhere is certainly a frustrating time, but it passes as you get more familiar with the machine and settings.

In times of despair never forget that The Hat has convinced you to buy one, just like he did with me...a steady drip drip drip of posts that wear you down You can always blame him for your despair I am glad he convinced me to buy one

On a more serious note, I spent about 6 weeks watching videos, reviews and looking at various printers before I bought the CR10s. I still consider it to be the best value out there in the price range you are looking at. What I would do is carefully weigh up the pros and cons of ordering from China or UK. I was lucky as I ordered direct from Creality but via their German warehouse - 4 days delivery and no extra charges, however knowing how long you can wait on any parts under warranty if I were doing it all again I'd buy from a UK firm when they have offers. Recently technologyoutlet had the Cr-10 at an offer proce so may run an offer again. They are a fair bit more expensive than the Chinese route but there support is great and they carry spare parts if you are in a hurry for them.

I'm not affiliated with the company - I have only bought filament and 3Dlac spray from them but I known they have a good reputation.

I'd stick to the 300 x 300 x 400 version as the 500 mm can be very difficult to get level and the huge bed weight can also cause some print issues if you try to print very fast.

One tip - before buying ask if they are the latest version motherboard as there has been a problem with the motherboard that requires a capacitor change due to temperature fluctuations.

Amazon is another as you will get good warranty but do be careful as some of the supplier are better than others.

@CakeHole, now that I’m back after an eternity of not printing, and some difficulties getting to grips with my machine again, and I figured if I can print your Nvidia Shield TV stand without making a plastic blob then I’d know the printer was back in business.

If you will kindly PM me and let me know where I can send it too, and you can tell me if it works or not...
