I've been using canon photo paper pro with my i9900 from the beginning but it looks like this paper has been discontinued recently. The canon site lists several new glossy papers; Pro 2, and Platnum but the i9900 is not listed as compatable. Anyone know if these papers will work in the i9900 and if canon offers drivers for these papers??

Thanks in advance.

The i9900 is physically the same as the Pro 9000 and if this is listed it should work with, but the standard printer profiles maybe be more or less off.

Canon site lists Pro 2 paper for the Pixma Pro 9000 but not for the i9900. Compatable printers listed for Pro 2 paper does not include i9900. Apparently no more Canon Pro paper for the i9900??

If a printer is not listed, it doesn't mean you can not use it. Actually the Pro 9000 can be regarded as a chipped version of the i9950 with SAME printhead. The only setback is the different ink formula (BCI-6 versus CLI-8), but this can be overcome with a custom printer profile.

In my opinion i9900 (or i9950) and Pro9000 are the best wide format photo printers for printing on glossy photo papers. There are of course many excellent wide format printers (same 13" wide) of HP and Epson brands. But Canon i9900, i9950 and Pro9000 have the lowest operating cost. The dye based ink these Canon printers use make them print with the widest gamut which really means the most vibrant colors. If the print head eventually wears out the new one will cost about $80 from Canon. When I print I certainly don't worry about if I would suddenly lose a print head.

they seem to be on a drive to discontinue a few things at the moment, we had an email saying that FX1 cartridges are being made redundant this week.

Called Canon. The rep said both Canon photo paper Pro 2, and Plus 2 will work with the i9900 without new profiles.

Sure it will work, but how well?? I've read a couple posts where Pro 2 paper remained tacky for an extened time after printing.

I've ordered both papers and guess i'll find out for myself.

Thanks for all the input.
