Is canon about to announce a new printer to replace the iP6700d? I noticed on their website that the best photo printer they currently list is the iP4500. I have this printer and think it is great, but just wondering about a new 6 color printer.

What canon website? Canon has many regional websites that list different products or do not. So maybe your site does not offer 6700D if you can't find it?

USA. It is under the archive section, not the current new models.

I've also been thinking about that...
canon doesn't have a new 6-color printer lately...
hmmm...

Then it means we will have new printer soon :) I tried serching some stores online and could not find it either, I wonder why canon removed it? What they can possibly improve in 6800d or whatever they will call it?

Yes there is something similar to the 6700D, the Pixma MP970 6 + 1 colourprinter (6 dyes + 1 extra pigmented PGI-5 ink). It also includes a high quality CIS-scanner (not the confused with continous ink supply), thus combining a MP830 with a Canon Pixma IP6700D.
