When I did my research I went with the much cheaper U2720Q (notice it's missing a Q) which has %95 DCI vs the %98 DCI of the UP2720Q. It doesn't have %99 adobergb like the UP version (it's %89) but it still has more color than the typical srgb only monitor. FWIW I don't notice a color shift when I move my head, and barely a brightness shift. https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/11f01cd5

Something I've noticed with many %99 adobergb monitors is they only typically have %90 DCI-P3, like the Eizo CS2740 nertog cited: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/21d01e78 or the BenQ SW271 with %93 PCI: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/5be2cec . Something to keep in mind

PM sent regarding the viewing angle issues. Let's investigate this a bit further. The U2720Q's color gamut is quite a bit smaller than the UP's gamut. Especially the green primary seems way more saturated in the UP2720Q to cover both DCI-P3 and AdobeRGB. I wonder how LG is achieving this, as I believe they have little choice in phosphor and LCD color filter composition.

If you have an i1 pro or other spectro, could you measure the backlight spectrum? The UP2720Q uses blue LEDs + green (beta-SiAlON, I would say) and red phosphors (PFS). I would guess the U2720Q has the same backlight, but if these are both LG displays, the UP variant might use LG's "nano-IPS" color filter to purify the green primary: http://palomakiconsulting.com/what-is-lgs-nano-cell-technology/

There are so many computer monitors out there that we’re spoiled for choice, and if you’re working to a tight budget then you just have to accept the quality at your going price range.

It’s all swings and roundabouts, one monitor may have a bit of advantage over the another in a certain area but then you’ll find you’ll lose out in other areas, because the price usually determines the overall quality.
