The interesting thing about these tests is that they list paper brands but do not list anything about the batch numbers. This is very significant because despite being the same brand and model of paper, there is no guarantee that the actual paper mill will produce the exact paper a month later. We are talking about respected brands as well here folks.
The fact that results are sensitive and sometimes very sensitive to who knows what exactly is reason to think about the real world expectations.

I don’t think that the big paper suppliers, especially the ones for fine art printing as Hahnemühle, Canson, Ilford/Tecco and others have a bad quality assurance. You may be right for cheaper and relabeled papers. I know people from Hahnemühle and Tecco personally and have been talking to them many times. They do a lot for continuing quality. If they would have differences from batch to batch, the art market and printing companies as White Wall will be not amused as a friendly expression.
If a ink performs bad in direct comparison with other inks with printed samples from the same box, it is the ink and nothing else.
