There is a successor for the R2880 with
- bigger (and probably fixed) cartridges / 26ml
- auto switching between matte and photo black (both cartridges on bord)
- front paper feed for thick paper
seems to be a small pro 3880 (but the 3880 is not so much bigger..)

PS: main question: how difficult it will be to refill or clone the cartridges?
..but perhaps the bigger carts are really inexpensive..can't believe it..

Nice stats, I would like the Eposn Pro 3800/3880 could handle roll paper too like this printer. I could not find information whether or not the cartridges are stationary, but due to the weight of the cartridges (26 ml) I think they must. Is there also an external waste ink tank ?

Found my information: stationary cartridges and no removable waste ink tank. I stick with the Pro 3800/3880 printer. Hopefully there will be an Pro 3900 with roll paper option. Nevertheless: one could redirect the waste ink tube away from the printer into an external bottle. Now the search is for an good refillable alternative this printer, because the stats seems to be very impressive for those not needing a larger printer and fills the gap the withdrawing of the HP B9180 has caused.
