Is there an inkjet printer that you would recommend that can print higher quality photos that the cartridges can be refilled?
And, which refill kit do you recommend for really good quality printing?

I just successfully refilled my cartridges for my HP C4180 and used Inktec refill kits.
What is your opinion of the ink in this kit?
Do you have any refill tips over and above the instructions on the refill kit?
How many refills should I expect from cartridge 95 & 98?

I'd go for a refurbished MP990 direct from Canon for $89.99 and free shipping.

You will find that refilling individual cartridges is a lot easier than your previous experience. Just read some of the posts on this forum to find lots of information.

You can find a discussion of this printer here.

Thanks for your help. I will definitely look into the MP990 refurb. Since I'm so new to this where can I get info on the German method you speak of? That sounds very interesting.

Thanks, Ohata0. This is the info I needed and I think I'm going to order the refurb Canon MP990 today.

inkadinkado,

Unless you are an experienced refiller or need an inkjet yesterday, I would hold off on purchase of the MP990 until the issue of 220/221 tanks being partially clear or opaque is resolved.

Has anyone asked Canon tech support directly via email on this important issue?

Btw, the $25 rebate expired on May 24th.

I think I only have one last question and that is if I order the 220/221 cartridges from ebay will I need a chip resetter?
If so, where do you recommend that I get the chip resetter?

Thanks to all for your help. I'm very appreciative.

You will need a resetter and they are available :) They are available from several sources, I got mine from Amazon, currently they are $9.99 w/shipping.
