still digging into replacing the waste pads of my MP830(D=91%, 37,000 pages). got it apart, replaced the pads. the waste pad kit had 3 parts that i'm not sure of the install

the parts(see pics) are:
QC1-9030-000: waste tube joint
QC2-0085-000: drain tube
QC1-7464-000: platen ink protect sheet

looks like the clear tube and joint fit onto the middle tube. not sure about the platen cover. maybe to somehow keep ink off the rollers.

any ideas ?

also should i try to clean out the bottom of the waste tubes ? like poking a Q-tip up there to clean it out some ?

I don't know this this printer so I cannot tell what to do, but maybe the service manual and parts catalog will be useful. In case you don't already have the manuals, links are here: http://www.wraithtdk.com/filedump/MP830/Canon PIXMA MP830 Service Manual.pdf and here: http://www.wraithtdk.com/filedump/MP830/Canon PIXMA MP830 Parts Catalog.pdf

These druckerchannel workshops are not for your printer, but they might contain some useful info: http://www.druckerchannel.de/artike...ank_bei_canon_multifunktionsgeraeten_tauschen or a Google translation: http://translate.google.dk/translat...ank_bei_canon_multifunktionsgeraeten_tauschen and this: http://www.druckerchannel.de/artike...resttintentank_bei_canon_pixma_mp530_tauschen or in English: http://translate.google.dk/translat...resttintentank_bei_canon_pixma_mp530_tauschen

I hope this is at least of some help and wish you good luck with the project. These good old Canon printers are certainly worth keeping alive.
Peter.

PeterBJ:

thx for the links, i had the service manual, had used the first translate link to dig in. the second translate link helped.

i took a shot and figure out where the 3 parts go

soon will attempt to put this beast back together.

a lot of work for a printer w 37,000 pages printed, but figured it was worth a shot to savage a quality canon printer that has performed great over the years

I wish you the best of luck and hope you manage to get it working again,
and youll find just as I did despite its age that it works just as good as before and mine takes pride of place.. :)

Hat:

it's been a hard worker over the years, 37,000 pages printed and complained very little

given the time and $ involved, the economics said to swap in one of my $69 spares (MX860/MX870s)

time will tell if it was the right call, just couldn't put this one out to pasture while it may still have some legs
