I had not printed for a few weeks on my Epson P900, and when I started back up, my prints were coming out with poor color and tone match and easily visible striations toward the end of the print. The ink nozzle test came out perfect, and I was still having the same problem using the highest quality settings.
I got clued in to the issue when I used the "highest resolution" carbon black mode printing in only one direction and priority mode for end-of-page printing.
The print speed was still fast, which should not have been the case. In invesetigating the print driver and found the major problem. When I upgraded to the Tahoe Mac OS, it reinstalled Apple's AirPrint driver and was using it by default instead of the Epson driver.
The secondary issue was that the Epson driver had a Tahoe-specific version.
So, deleting both drivers and installing the Tahoe-specific Epson driver resolved all issues.
I was starting to feel that the Epson P900 was giving up the ghost, yet it lives to print on for another day.
So just a cautionary reminder when upgrading Mac OS to verify that Apple's AirPrint driver is removed if installed and that you have the most recent version of your printer driver installed.
