Hi to everyone,

New to forum. I have a Canon iP4300 that stopped printing PGI5BK. The unit will not print the pigmented black ink when you choose Plain Paper or try a Print Nozzle Check, but it does print pigmented ink if I chose High Resolution Paper or print a photo.

Received advice from another forum to replace the Print Head. I have only been using Canon inks.

Replacing the print head did not work so I was told to buy a new purge unit which I did.

Before I tear apart the unit and try to replace the purge unit (this is staring to cost a small fortune) does anyone have a suggestion that I can try that does not require complete disassembly?

Thanks,

John

Before tearing apart the printer try to prime the print head by dropping ink into the inlet of the print head. The inlet for PGI-5 is very large. It is easy to drop a few drops of ink into it. If the purge unit is bad the ink will remain in there. It should print a little when you invoke a nozzle check.
