To fent,

Seems to me you are putting the cart before the horse here. All you have established thus far is that the cartridges have some ink in them.---and that the printer is making some noises---and perhaps cycling the cartridges back and forth--but certainly running the the paper through.

Lot more than that required to get the printer to print----basically the print head on the cartridge must move to a given spot---the printer must generate an electrical impulse--that travels to the the printhead and vaporises that ink drop that should be there--and shoots it out onto the paper. That process endlessly repeated generates the printed image on a thermal inkjet.

I suggested you look for a self test--which should be in the manual you can download------because it bypasses the printer driver, the usb cable, and all other
PC related stuff---if the printer then prints you bark up the driver or usb cable tree.
If the printer fails to print in self test mode you know something other than printer drivers has a problem that must be corrected.--as trouble shooting step one.

But Manuchue may well be right-----if the electrical impulse does not get to the printhead, you again get no printing--no ink is vaporised or deposited on paper. So it could be defective printheads on both cartridges, or deposits on the contacts that short out the electrical impulse, or the printer failing to generate electrical impulses
at all.-----so if you have not done what Manuchue suggested, clean those contacts on the printhead and where the cartridge clips to the carrier, playing with the driver is premature.

Thus far you have invested zero extra money---it could still be burned out printheads on both the cartridges.-----a few ways to test if you know someone with a printer that takes the same cartridges---and that would be to see if there cartridge prints in their printer or vs. versa.-----or bite the bullet an get one not two replacement cartridges------and if it suddenly prints with a new cartridge ---either black or tri-color--you can gamble on getting the other cartridge----if it still fails to print its time to realise its probably not worth repairing assuming everything else is clean.
