I have a Samsung Xpress sl-c460fw that only prints about an inch wide strip on the left hand side of the page.

I wanted help figuring out which part is likely malfunctioning so I can replace it. I've look into buying replacements of the Imaging Unit (Drum) and the Transfer belt unit, but don't know which would fix the problem.

If anyone has experience with this printer, or this problem, or even a good understanding of laser printers in general, I would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks,

Samsung laser printers aren't very user-friendly or serviceable, in my opinion,
just like their mobile phones.

I owned a CLP-300 for a few years, and it did well for a time.
3 or 4 years later, it got temperemental, and stopped working.

I could get it to work after 50 to 60 restarts, but it just wasn't working.

Replaced with a Xerox color laser, then threw the Samsung in the trash.

Your trouble is likely the main circuit board, as that controls all imaging
to process the final outcome. If it's an inch-wide strip on one side of the page,
you can effectively consider the printer to be dead, as the processor is now
unable to correctly process the imaging presented to it.

You might be able to restore the printer to a working state with a mainboard swap,
but the chances of an identical printer for parts may be few and far between.
