Thank you for the information!
I only print small amounts for myself and friends, no service for customers, at present mainly with canon ip4500/mp810 (refilled carts with IS ink).
But I have two R285 (very similar to P50) waiting to be reactivated ... will try the epson OEM ink (L800) ... perhaps also your "converted" OCP pigment.

PS: the stationary carts of epson 720 are better for CISS than the moving carts of the P50 - but they both have the same print resolution afaik!?

artisan 720 is the px720wd in Europe it has twice the amount of Inkjet nozzles compared to the p50 and1400 afaik
...
..maybe the print pattern of the newer 720 is smoother than that of P50/R285..

Both have the SAME physical and software DPI.
BUT the Epson Stylus Photo PX Series print at least 1,5x Faster! and they come with Ethernet connection, which help ALOT when you have more than just two printers.

I recently ditched my R285 for 50 inkl refillable cartriges and a handfull of dye inks its a wonderfull printer BUT it only can handle the small cartriges T0801-T0806 thats not really convenient

The only problem that the PX Series suffer from is the poor paper handling. Most of my 250~300g papers wouldnt just feed trough.

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
Useful information on that P50 with pigment inks... (although it did sort of shoot off on a tangent didn't it :)).

I get asked about the Photo 1400/1500W and other printers as the P50 so useful to know they can indeed be setup as Pigment alternates instead. Particularly interested to see you figured out the false economy of the CIS systems vs' refillables too.

I may even forgive you for using a homebrew waste kit too ;)

All of them! LOL
Brian, no problem of the off the tangent steer! On the 1400, one gent that frequents another forum ( named ZONE-8 ) has been using the 1400 with inkjetfly inks with 100% satisfactory results. I am sure that it would work equally well with other similar ink set.

Since I have The 1400 up and running with refillable cartriges and the R3000 too I will soon ditch all my 8 x 11 " printers

Its nice to have a "small" printer on events, I did ALOT of photo printing on exibitions, town festivites and stuff. People are just astonished what pictures I am able to "directly" print of the photographers memory card.

It was alot of work cramming up my car with the stuff I need and sitting a whole day their to sell pictures for 2 each.. it wasnt not really paying well.
It do this from time to time but as an volunteer, the church for example they pay my expensensen if they get the original bill or If i write them a bill.

Since I use very cheap papers from TPI or Sihl paper trough various vastly cheap distrubtion channels (AC-Concept egg.) I dont even charge for that.
