Maybe the reason the printer won't turn on is not the failed reset but a failed printhead. Canon printheads can fail suddenly without any warning. A failed printhead might only show in a nozzle check, or give an error screen or flash an error code on the yellow error lamp. In case of a short circuit in the printhead it can prevent the printer from turning on.

You can check if the printhead is the cause by removing it and then try to turn the printer on. If the printer now turns on with a warning about a missing printhead, the printhead was the cause of the problem.
