I recently acquired an iP4000 that was loaded with Island Inkjet ink.
It seems to be as good if not better than my Hobbicolors inks.

Does anyone know what ink manufacturer that Island Inkjet uses ?

Island is a regional brand with a prescence in some Wal-Mart stores. I used their product for awhile but found it expensive and no better than Hobbicolors. When you buy third-party you can listen to their pitch or not--your choice. How can you verify that ink really comes from the alleged source? They could tell you it is Lyson ink and how would you know?

I'm speaking of a different mfr.
Island Inkjet is a North American franchise that is headquartered in B.C.

It is not available at WalMart stores. They would destroy their franchise network I would think, if they tried that route.

This is the reason for my post. They officially don't know.
I was simply looking for some inside info ;)

You did not read my post carefully. All the facts in it are true. Note that I said "regional." and "some," Island started from two guys filling OEM cartridges with syringes in the Guildford mall in Surrey BC around 1999 or 2000. It was messy. The floor was sticky with missed fills, and the workers they trained sometimes could not get the thing figured out. They would fill a cartridge while you watched, which was cool if you had an odd item like the early Epson Color Sytlus pro models. The guys were ink-stained. But they grew from that, and it was a better deal than sending your old carts in and waiting for them to come back. Next time I am in my Wal-Mart I will take a snap of their outlet there which is right alongside the McDonalds in the front of the store, and is about 400 sq. ft. With that kind of exposure and the % of gross Wal-Mart will ask for, your prices would be higher too. They quoted me $36.00 for four ounces of ink, which is when I started with Hobbicolors at $32.00 for 16 oz. I think they were trying to discourage the bulk ink sales, as they must make more on the ready-filled. Hey! They could have a good product! I wish them well with their business. I just do not buy there.

Island Inkjet started from a one man refilling business in Courtenay B.C. Originally called Frontier Products, the name was changed to better reflect what the business was about. It was taken over by Cary Porcher and has grown world wide from there. Their head office remains in Courtenay B.C. as does there international training centre, and a few other fancy things they have added. Most of their franchises can be found in Malls, and Walmart stores.

I am not affiliated in any way with them, they are however my competitor.

Hi,

I work at Island Inkjet.

I believe the inks come from Image Specialists.

I have used the inks in my Epson R200 (dye based) and the colour match is excellent.

Most customer say the colours match well for Canon and HP as well.

Correction to my last post.

Ilsand Inkjet uses Formulabs ink, BUT recently they have started using Image Specialists for the new cartridges.
