using method for ip4500 does not work...

apparently canon modified the ip4600 that it needs a SOFTWARE to reset the waste ink pad counter...

Did you remove the print head before resetting?

Can you provide a confirmation/source where you got that information?

The newer models like IP4600 if you need to reset the waste ink full, or print out any EEPROMS info, or extended/details nozzles checks print, in some region, you may be fortunate enough to go Canon and register for the service tool utility program. Some region you may have to bring the printer back to the service center where they will perform the reset for you.

i can't really confirm it yet. as i have not personally got the software to reset an ip4600(or in my case ip4680)
but most forums (i visited) suggested that canon modified the new ip46xx series that it will need a software to reset ng waste ink counter.
like what happened to ip18xx and ip19xx...

See my reply at post #7 http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4161&p=1
Ah, thanks Lin, I'd forgotten I'd read that.

A shame that Canon have opted for the Epson "tie-in" route although in fairness the EEPROM reset with lights routine was a bit hit and miss so it could be seen as an improvement, IF they make it publicly available. Not that they will here in the UK...

Thanks again...

The earlier Canon printers required that you remove the print head before they accepted a reset command. According to lin's information, the reset procedure has apparently been modified, however.

do you by an chance have this resetter?
This is not a resetter. This is the Canon service utility tool. You have to go to your own Canon Support to enquire for more detail. Like I said before

Sorry can't help you much.
