Hi

I have been refilling my various Canons now for several years.
I have refilled my ip4200 now probably 4 or 5 times.

Today I refilled my CLI8-BK and my CLI5-BK (drilling a hole in the tank, refilling with syringe, then gluing hole).

The CLI8 was recognised, but the CLI5 was not. I've inspected and cleaned the contacts on the print head and the contacts on the cart chip.

Any ideas?

If you have one... try using a chip resetter as this sometimes resolves a borked chip.

I haven't got a re-setter. I'm in Australia. I assume we can get them here.
Is there a recommended re-setter? Are they universal, or do you have to buy one specifically for your printer model?

I've read somewhere that after a certain number of refills, or a certain number of printed pages, the chip permanently disables the cartridge.
Typical Canon.:/

Thanks for the help.:)

You'll have to read up on the plethora of discussion about canon resetters on here because I can't face repeating it all... :)
