What is the difference betweein 2pl and 5pl and why isthis even important since a min.2pl printer (iP1600) and a min.5pl printer (iP1000) can both print 4800x1200 dpi? The iP1000 brochure even advertises "grain-free" pictures, which other higher-performance printers (3000/4000/5000) also advertise; does this mean there is no noticeable difference in print quality assumning using the best print mode and same photo paper?
I understand that the iP1600 has more nozzles = faster print speed/fewer printhead passes, but does more nozzles mean anything more than that? Again, this question arises because I see both iP1000 and iP1600 can print at 4800x1200 dpi.
I read on the furms an issue about keeping ink tanks refilled so that the printer does not tell a nozzle to fire and that nozzle gets damaged since it does not eject any ink. While this is easy for see-through BCI-6 tanks, how can this be done for BCI-24 tanks? All I can think of is replacing the ink tanks after printing a certain number of pages, for instance, changing tanks after 40-50 pages, regardless if the tanks are empty or not. Are there any other suggestions?
How much "damage" can a nozzle take before being damaged due to no ink, anyway?
I'm worried about the "integrity" of the iP1000's print head... is this prone to clogging? Can I hear from iP1000 users, what problems do you have (if any) with the iP1000?
Thanks!
