As an added note, the 56/57 cartridges are very easy to refill (and I agree with panos that priming is important), but because of the low capacity, needs refilling and resetting for ink level too often. This is my last HP printer as I have trashed the 712 and replaced my 7210 leaving me with Canon 3000, 6000, 9000, and 830 (all in one). Have also switched to Hobbicolors for the Canons.
