The HP PSC has the following cartridges:
HP 336 (black)
HP 342 (3 color)

Local PC shop has the for about 24 $ each (this is Finland)!

Here's some news after doing some tests:

Since the cart has it's own printhead in true "happy-go-lucky" frame of mind I
filled the CMY cart with Canon compatible non-oem el cheapo chinese ip4000 inks I
buy by the liter. After printing some 30-40 full page borderless A4 prints it's
still producing great results! I've filled it about three times already.

Great saving there! And easy to fill also.

Anyway here's another happy note: my Canon ip4000 is great but I can't using it
to print on HP paper. I get smudgy prints. Now printing with HP and using canon
compatible ink the prints are top quality with no smudging.

Since it work I don't see a problem using the ink. The print-head in contained in
the cart. I the ink causes it to clog permanently all I have to do is buy another
cart (at 24 euros) which I would to do anyway.

These are surprisingly, really good refills, best of all the new cartridges I've come across. Simple peel and fill. Only problems I've come across are electrical.

Cheers.

Greetings to the Great Printer Council,

I am new to this tri-color land, and I seek advice.

I have an HP PSC1500 which is a pain in the neck. It likes to waste ink and paper by printing a test page every time I plug it in and turn it on. I don't use it very often, maybe once every 3 months.

I refilled its black cartridge, and it is not printing correctly. (Long ago I had great luck refilling cartridges for an even older HP portable printer. But not with the PSC1500.) I peeled back the cartridge sticker and attempted to inject about 6ml of ink with a syringe. Only about 2 ml entered the sponge before the ink overflowed the fill hole. I injected slowly rather than quickly.

Now when I print a test page, the black text starts out looking fine (crisp and dark) but then fades out by the end of the page. The HP software supposedly tells me the ink levels. It says the cartridge is empty.

Should I try adding more ink? Or just give up on this printer/scanner/copier altogether and purchase a new or refurbished unit? The wi-fi/bluetooth units look kind of nifty.

Is the HP 336 (black) cartridge a chipped cartridge? Do I need to reprogram/reset it ?

Any sage advice will be greatly appreciated.

Also, there is a web link in this old tread - bs-print.co.uk - which does not work any more. Is there another source for this information?

Cheers, Beemie
