Hi there, I'm Thilo and new in this round. It's impressive to read an learn from your experience. I'm mostly exploring the many options that QuadToneRip offers, started with an 1800, going to different 3880, and now starting with an P900. Next project is mixing and diluting an inkset for 10 channels.

Hi Thilo,

I am glad you managed to write your first post finally. Enjoy the forum like I have done in the last decades and hopefully we all will learn from each others experience and knowledge.

Good morning Thilo

remember to reset the chips before they fall down 15%, because it might not be able to reset the chips if it is too low. The reset chip have a particular behaviour that everytime you power on the printer it will say you are using none original cartridges blablabla...just press ok to accept and it will proceed and ink level is active. Also the printer driver will do so the first time with a pop-up warning, but after that the printing will continu. Sometimes you will need to take out two cartridges and reinsert the cartridges if you get an error message, but the printer will continue to function afterwards.

Perfect - I'll keep that important information in mind and stick a note right to the printer. Reading your mail: What about the waste ink tank? Can I reset the tank in the same way (before it comes down to 15%) and use it again and again?

For my 3880, I used 2 waste ink tanks: A new one and a used one. When the used tank was aout 30%, I took it out, resetted it, put the new catridge in, let it recognize by the printer as new, then put then the resetted used tank in, so it was recognized as a new one, too. I put some absorber matrial in the tank that I really use. So - could you please let me know if I'll need a second (new) tank for the P900, along with the tank that comes with it? Best regards, Thilo

same the waste ink tank can be reset indefinitely (also keep the 15% limit in mind). You don't need a second waste ink tank, it will work when reset without a second waste ink tank.

Anyhow you will get 2 waste ink tank with the P900 as the priming procedure takes alot of ink to prime and fill the lines (actually horribly much: the P700 will end with only 5-10% ink left in the cartridges, forcing you to buy cartridges immediately....the P900 is slightly beter with about 30% ink left, but still hefty amount of inks needed to prime the print head).
