Heads going dry

Hi Mr. Gez,
......., I bet you will run out of ink in the middle of printing because the newer hp cartridges are holding less and less ink - from 5 mils to 2 mils! ...

This is my concern, but I cannot get any technical detail on the printer in question.

So Canon option may be to run down the levels of ink and take the cartridges out before I go away. At least this would save the heads getting dry? Or would I have to clean the heads on my return?

Then I could clean the cartridge and refill them?

Any suggestions for a low use Canon printer or even ''all in one'' printer?
