Hi I need to take my cartridge chips from the original carts PGI-520/CLI-521 , Canon printer IP4600 and place them in compatable carts. I don't even like the sound of this. Is there a guide anywhere please? Obliged.
The Hat had a nice post on the chip swapping procedure. however, it is geared for OEM Canon cartridges and chips. All bets are off the table when using a third party cartridge as construction or method of adhering the chip to the cartridge may be different.
Didn't your third party cartridges come with instructions or a link for fixing a chip to them? Kind of bad form on the seller's part if he didn't.
Depending on design of the compatible cartridges you can either use a small piece of thin double sided adhesive tape to hold chips in place, I have successfully used a tape from "Tesa" intended for sticking carpets to the floor, or you could use two small dots of hot melt glue to secure the chips in place: http://www.druckerchannel.de/artikel.php?ID=1208&seite=1&t=erste_nachbauten_fuer_pixma_ip4200_ip5200 .
