I have one cli-8bk cartridge that doesn't seem to be working. I get a message from the printer to check for the cartridge w/o a light - it has a problem. The only option is to cancel printing. I've used a resetter on it and it lights up on reinstall but I can't print w/o getting the error message. Any suggestions other than get a new cartridge?

Thanks.

Colblip,

one solution: into your trash bin. Welcome to Canon's world of flimsy chipped cartridges. With the resetters we refillers have won the battle, but Canon -unfortunately- won the war. They know that sooner or later the chip will break down, forcing you to buy a new one. No resetter will be able to revive a dead chip !

I was afraid of that. Guess this is an all too common problem?

Perhaps Pelikan chips are more durable.

Possible but Pelikan chips -because of its oblong built- does not fit on Canon cartridges and they have a inferior sponge design compared to the original double sponge/double density structure of a genuine Canon cartridge.
