Epson stylus photo1400 won't stop initializing

I've got an Epson stylus photo1400. I don't use it often. When I tried to start it up recently it won't stop initializing. By initializing I mean the print head moves back and forth and it sounds like it's charging the heads. Even after several hours it's still going. I've tried starting it up with and without the PC connected, with and without the ink cartridges installed. I've unplugged it and plugged it back in several times. Tried cleaning the heads. Nothing works. Any suggestions???

In order to determine the malfunction of the printer, you need to know the error code.
For this, download the "Printhelp" or "Epson Printer Connection Checker" program.
Install on your PC and see the error code.

The printer is showing up in device manager but Epson connect Printer setup can't find the printer.

Look at which indicators and how they blink when the printer is turned on. This way you can determine the error.

Only the power button blinks. .5 sec on, .5 sec off repeat endlessly while the printer head moves back and forth. I've let it go on for hours before turning it off so this is not just normal charging of inkheads. Occasionally it will stop for about 1 second then resume.

I followed the instructions in the video: It did not help.

Prinhelp.exe seems to be able to find the Epson 1400 but since I don't speak Ukrainian I have no idea if it is giving me any additional information on the printer.

Set the Printhelp language to English.
Watch the video below.
After changing the language, close the program and run it again.
