Just wondering if anyone has converted their 4800 to dye ink? If so how did it go and how did picture quality compare? and would dye ink adversely affect the Printhead?
Also wondering about a good source of ink in Uk Anyone tried lyson/ mauritt inks?

many Thanks for your help!

I have personally never heard of anyone converting a Epson Pro 4800 from pigment to dye. I would be interested to here some feedback on it.

Basically I prefer a printer with CMY dye to print pictures and K pigmented to print office document. I think it's the best balance. If I would print mostly photo then I will refill with all dye. If I would print mostly color office documents then I will refill with all pigmented.

Epson printer seems kind of "universal"! :D (I currently use HP, and haven't use Epson before, but I see many of my friends are doing this way, by having 2 CISS to interchange when needed.)

Hi thanhhuy123: due to to the similar printing method you can use Canon ink in your HP printer as well (for example CLI-8 into HP 364 XL cartridges). Brother and Epson use piezo print technology, so you can use Epson in in Brother printers, but also Canon ink works well in Epson (I have tested CLI-8 in my Epson WF-7525 with great results).

Hi pharmacist,

So, I could sum up like this: thermal printhead use thermal ink, but piezo printhead use piezo ink as well as thermal ink => piezo (Epson) is super-hero!! :D

Some say that thermal ink contain a little bit more water to cope with boiling, while piezo ink is much thicker. A printhead that can eject thich ink can also eject thinner ink. Some problem might occur if pH or other chemical factors are different, but basically it works.

I also test (accidentally, not intentionally!!): put piezo (Epson) ink into thermal printhead (HP) --> printhead dragging and ink seems not coming out smooth and finally it clog my nozzle!
