Hello everyone,

I have this problem with my Epson ET printer:

sometimes it prints and sometimes it doesn’t. This problem occurs with both USB and Wi-Fi connections. I have already installed the latest driver, but that didn’t help.

The printer displayed “error 308501” once.
I found some information online that this error might be related to the printhead or ink system, but I’m not sure.

I’d be grateful for any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

Hi @-christopher-
Epson has about 60 ET (ecotank) models so it would help to have the full model number as a start

Hi @-christopher-
The more details you give the more targeted suggestions you will get.
Can you repeatedly get results with
  • Nozzle Check — tests all four ink colors and printhead nozzles.
  • Print Head Alignment Pattern — prints alignment pages used to calibrate the printhead.
  • Network Status Sheet — prints Wi-Fi settings, IP address, signal strength, SSID, etc.
  • Network Connection Report — can print a diagnostic report if Wi-Fi setup or connectivity is having
  • Can you make a copy a page on the scanner glass and have it print properly?
If those basic items also don't work, try updating the firmware.

When you send a print job, is it just ignoring it with no action or sounds from the printer?
I assume there is no partial printing

Since the problem occurred over both USB and wifi, it sounds less like a connection problem and more like a printer hardware problem. You should print a nozzle check and see if any of the printer's maintenance have piled up. I mean, you have already seen error 308501 anyway.

Thank you for your reply, and sorry for my late response.

I printed the nozzle check, the print head alignment pattern, the network status sheet, and the network connection report. I think everything looked normal. The only thing I noticed was that on the print head alignment pattern, 1 or 2 out of the 7 boxes had no lines. Is this a problem, or is it normal?

When the issue occurs, the printer does not react at all. It does not make any sounds, and the print job is simply ignored. And the Epson software on my laptop displays the error message:
"The print job cannot be sent. Run the Epson Printer Connection Checker. The printer cannot be found on the network"
The Epson Printer Connection Checker is not able to fix the problem. However setting it up again, it works normally until the problem occurs again.
