I am trying to print from Wordpad and my printer keeps saying that the rear tray is out of paper. I am not using the rear tray. I've had this happen before and it eventually goes away. When I use other programs I can pick which tray to print from and it will get around this. Wordpad lets you pick, but when you click print it doesn't use the settings. Any ideas?

You should check the default driver settings via the System menu before you start your editor, change there to paper bin 1 in the driver and close with Ok/Enter.

I've tried telling Wordpad to print from a specific tray, which it recognizes, but then it gives me the message about the rear tray. Most other programs, like Paintshop Pro, will give me the message, but will print to the specific "cassette" I tell it to print to. Wordpad just ignores it. It's not a huge deal, because I only use Wordpad for one specific thing, but I want to figure out what's causing this issue.

Anyone have any other ideas? I even tried removing the printer and reinstalling everything and then when it had a print test, it said the printer in the rear feed was out... Epson support is no help.

You would need the service manual to find the sensor(s) causing this error condition, a sensor may be blocked or covered up by a small piece of paper or mechanically inhibited.

I searched for a service manual. I found no free downloads, but here is a commercial download at 10$.
Wow!! Thank you for posting this info , much appreciated. Im a Newbie, just joined like 2 hours ago !!

But i have my doubts, and hence this post to you !!
i did check out the website for the service manuals. and selected to buy a service manual from them, when i go to basket, to pay, i select "paypal" as my method of payment,( my paypal account is 25 years now,) ...as soon as select PAYPAL , the very next line/ Boxes it ask me to fill out my credit card number , and card VV number etc etc....???
I found that funny ??? and cancelled order !! - Because it defeats the purpose of having a PAYPAL account - all that info they need is clearly in the paypal account , like why was it asking me to fill my credit card info separately in another box ??
I dont mean to condescend nor put anyone down - since this website is about PrinterKnowledge - i thought id just just share this with you and for anyone that comes across here !!!
Your views and advice much appreciated !!

You either try to resolve your Paypal issue with the support of that website or you go for another source for that manual

I just checked the site. Clicking "Terms and Conditions" does not work but leads to the start page. "Contact Us" reveals the company is located in China. Due to the prices in USD I assumed the company was American.

Maybe you should look for another seller of the manual? I wonder if their parts are from defunct printers like printheads from the far East?

Edit: See this.
