Dye ink in Epson Expression XP-310

I just ordered one of these from Epson, refurbished for a backup & printing web pages, etc. (They're giving 'em away for $35 shipping included).

I'm using Precision Colors ink in my 1430 and completely satisfied. Question is, is it safe to load the new (refurbished) printer with PC's dye ink right off and not even use the supplied Epson T200 pigment carts?

Also, does anyone know if Epson printers come with "real" (full) cartridges or "starter" carts?

I've done this with my workforce pro WP-4090 and other printers in the past. It should be safe

Thanks. I know it sounded like a dumb question, but my concern was whether Epson's software might somehow reject if Epson ink had never been installed.
