We ran into this in another forum! Basically the smiley is called when someone types
Code:
:/
and converts that text to a smiley. If the link is parsed as a link, then it will bypass the smiley.

So, when we see the links get turned into the smiley, it seems to be because the text isn't being parsed as a link.

I edited the post to change the links to include the http:// and they are all parsing properly.

Do you know if you copied the links or did anything different from usual that would cause them to NOT parse as links, but as regular text instead?

Thank you for making the corrections. I am impressed by how responsive and friendly you are to forum members questions and comments. You are a fantastic web site administrator. :clap

I copied and pasted the links. When I saw the smiley face I then tried to manually correct it - delete smiley face and type in a ":" - but that did not work.

Thanks for the nice comment! My hope is always that peeps will continue to "pay it forward" and help others that also need it.

I may remove that smiley or swap around the direction of the smiley text so it won't interfere with links... but I feel in my bones there is something else going on that is causing this... like the text already being linked and edited, or not being seen as a complete link, or something else stopping the parser from converting the whole line into a link.

If it happens again, try selecting the whole link, use the "unlink" icon (link with an x) and then edit the URL to have the complete http:// and see if that works.

Ok, I edited the smiley to only replace
Code:
:\

The downside is that any use of the old smiley will just show the old code, but I don't think anyone will notice or mind. :D

I did not use the "link" function. I just copied and pasted the link into the body of the post. Maybe this would not have happened if I used the dedicated "link" function?

The first link via straight copy and paste. The second link using the dedicated link button.
