I have had a Canon MX922 for about three years now (my second one) and it has stopped feeding paper from the bottom tray.
I have checked it out and it appears that it is a gear issue, and not something simple that I can fix so I am in the market for a new printer. I have been looking at the Canon Mega Tank G6020 and wonder if anyone has had experience with them. They look like the best deal in that type of refillable tank printer.

Not exactly cheap, though ( if you mean Maxify megatank models).

OP stated "Canon Mega Tank G6020". In the US this is not from the Maxify line. Is it different in your country?

I checked out the Maxify line but I don't want to spend that much money on this printer. It will be my small photography studio printer for regular paper printing. I have a Canon Pro-300 for photo printing. I don't want to use the 300 for everyday printing and put it through all those extra cycles and with that expensive ink.

I have never kept track of how much we print per month, sometimes it's under a hundred sheets, sometimes it's a few hundred a month. The MX922 lasted three years and that has been about what my printers seem to last. I have been using aftermarket cartridges for years with good luck with the 922, but I have noticed that with the newer Canon printers, even the aftermarket cartridges are more expensive, that's why I began looking at the Mega Tank or the Epson Eco Tank.

Canon model numbers for the G-series megatank printers vary from G510/610 to 570/670 by business region, please see some details here

https://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/canon-photo-tank-system-printers.14638/post-130722

and my next posting

Epson offers Ecotank photo printer models for A4 and A3 - ET-8500/ET-8550 with different numbers in other business regions like L6160/6180 and more. All these models run with dye inks - with the premium inks of the resp. company. Since these printers are expected to print more volume than smaller desktop units Canon makes replacement printheads available at an affordable price. Both of these printer series are on the market for about 1 year or less so real long term experience by user reports are not available yet.

There is more to it here in the US. The "G" megatank models have either 3 or four numbers after the "G" and the Maxify megatanks are distinguished by the addition of an "X" after the "G" ---> "GX"

As if that weren't confusing enough, there is a G6020 (OP's printer of interest) and a GX6020 printer.

If you want all pigment inks, all GI-26 inks, then it's the high priced Maxify MegaTank "GX" printers. Otherwise, it's Pigment Black only and the rest Dye-based, all GI-20 or GI-21 or GI-290 inks, with the "G" MegaTank printers.

Exception: The G620 with all Dye-based extended inkset - GI-23 inks. This is Canon's "Photo" MegaTank printer.

I'm getting the impression that Canon and Epson are trying to compete which company can run a more complex numbering system for their printer models and consumables.......
