I finally got over the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" mentality and swapped out the brick-black cover for the OEM Fang. I also added the LED light bar (tapping into the 12v to the main block fan). I'm VERY happy with the results (especially since I used parts that were already on the CR-10) and SOOO glad I can clearly see and access the nozzle!!
A few notes:
1) I had to trim the end of the clips on the fang where it clips to the head-block because it was protruding too much to let the OEM screws bite far enough into the bracket.
2) I couldn't get the screws to thread into the PLA, so I used a lighter and a paper-clip to melt the holes a tiny bit wider in the opening to get the screws started.
3) I used my heat gun to soften the LED bar to curve it around to focus even more light to the nozzle.
