Hello all
Thank you for accepting my account. I have a Canon Pro 100 I bought new well over 10 years ago. It sat (mostly) unused until last year. Right now I use it a lot and it is producing gorgeous prints. No problems at all. My questions are: is it worth it to buy a replacement print head for it & will the the Cli 42 inks continue to be available? As I said the printer is working very well. I would like to extend that as far as possible.
Thanks

Hi and welcome, yes it would be a great idea to get a spare print head because its far cheaper than getting a new printer, and again yes the CLl-42 carts will be around for a good while yet..

The Pro 100 is much more refill friendly than the successor the Pro 200 so that is one more reason to get a spare printhead while they are still available.

( see post #13 )

No stock of QY6-0084 (printhead for Pro-100/200) or QY6-0085 (for Pro-10/300) at reliable websites in continental Europe.
Forum member Palombian discovered a UK website that, apparently, has these printheads stock, albeit at a much higher price than in France or Germany. I wouldn't know about North America because Canon USA is a different company from Canon Europe. Maybe they still sell spare parts.
Anyway, if this new policy about spares comes directly from Canon headquarters in Japan, the situation looks gloomy. To whoever owns a Canon Pro printer, I'd advice to fetch right now one or two spare printheads wherever you find them, provided the cost is reasonable and the vendor reliable.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Amazon advertises several print heads starting under $100.00 all the way to $340.00 for a canon original. I went ahead and ordered the Canon version because the other had terrible ratings. Haven't received an "out of stock" email yet.
Thanks again for the input.
