Canon MP620 with stripes in photos

After printing my first photo, I saw some bad stripes on it.
I have done several head alignment and cleaning runs on the printer, but still get stripes.

The top photo shows the best I can come up with and the bottom photo is the one I started out with.

I did read some posts about this and it was suggested to do a head alignment (which I did several times), it was also suggested to make sure to chose the photo paper option.
I print from photoshop CS2 and don't see an option for that.

Do I have a defective printer and have to return it? or is there one more thing to try?

Huray, the problem is fixed!

I found the option where I was able to chose the correct paper (Plus Glossy II) and no more stripes, a perfect photo.

Now I'm really happy.

Make sure to print photos using the top feeder and not the bottom feeder. The u-turn at the bottom can cause problems.

it actually asked me to put the photo paper into the rear tray, so I did that.

Not wanting to go off topic for too long.
A friend of mine took up under water photography as a hobby and he took hundreds off pictures of me and some other buddies on our dives.

This photo was taken of the coast of Miami, near a wreck called Sheri Lynn
