Hello everyone,

My canon MG5350 suddenly started printing black really bad.

I have already replaced the cartridges and no improvement. After that I have thrown the printhead into the water. it's drying now:)

But now the biggest grey thing looks damaged. there seems to be a bump on it. What are those grey things? Can I replace it?

hi
why not try alcohol rather than water, and try hard printhead cleaning cycle 4 or 6 times??

Because I don't have any alcohol here. Can i use a laundry detergent too (like 'Dreft')?
I have done the cycle already 6 times.

The grey things are inlet screens. As long as they are not punctured, no damage is done.

The purpose of the inlet screens is not to filter the ink, but act as surface tension breakers, if they are punctured or removed, no ink can be transferred from the cartridge to the print head.

Hopefully your cleaning has worked.

It doesn't look damaged to you? I haven't touched it with my hands, only with water out of the tap.

No, they don't look damaged to me. Canon print head screens often look like that.

Ok I have let the printhead dry for more than 24 hours and this is what I got.
From this (without soaking into the water: http://i.imgur.com/vE8DO3a.jpg )
to this (1st cleaningprogram:http://i.imgur.com/B4HVav8.jpg ) (11th cleaningprogram:http://i.imgur.com/slRwGPy.jpg )

I think I ruined it by scratching the printhead 5 times against my inox sink..How could it else be worse by soaking it into water?

Do you think my prints going to be fixed when i buy a new printhead? Little bit cheaper than a new decent printer and then I can still use my cartridges.
I want the framework in this document (http://i.imgur.com/DUtjAOB.jpg ) to be crisp and clear.

I can buy a new printhead for 85 euro all inclusive. That is a little bit less than a canong mg 5550 which costs 95 euro and is actually worse than the 5350.

By the way: someone need to make a sticky about cleaning methods. Too difficult to find all the posibilities for me.

First nozzle print after two days soaking into FAIRY/DREFT!!!! http://i.imgur.com/8Tze44a.jpg . Very nice, but black is still out of alignment a little bit when I print squares, or maybe that is because I use non-original ink..
