Canon (D560?) laser ADF jamming

Hi everyone:

My elderly Mom has a Canon printer/scanner/copier. I believe it's a D560,
but if could be a D530. Sorry, my photo is a bit blurry.

Acc. to my sister, the ADF never worked properly on this printer from the day
we got it for Mom. No one ever told me (the tech. guy in the family) until now.

Is there a common cause for ADF jams on this printer?

Is it worth fixing, assuming I can do some simple-moderate difficulty
procedures? Or is it one of those printers for which the ADF generally
doesn't work?

The best thing I can add is try feeding the sheet in manually, and turn the feed rollers by hand till you hit a snag..

Do you mean as a test, or as a workaround? I'm not looking
for a workaround. Either I repair that ADF or I never use it.
I don't want to fuss over it, just fix it, if possible.

I snagged a copy of the service manual, but it's been years
since I took apart printers/copiers and I'm not sure it's
going to point me in the right direction except in terms
of disassembly instructions.

The thing is, if my sister is right, and the ADF never worked from when we got the printer,
I would think those parts weren't worn out, but maybe defective?

I'm thinking at this price, it might be worth it to replace those parts.
But only if the the ADFs on these models are reasonably reliable. If not,
I don't want to buy parts only to find out it won't feed properly anyways.

Could this be a sensor problem too or partly a sensor problem?
If I'm going to order parts, I only want to do it once.

Well, as it turns out, the problem was just pieces of paper and masking
tape stuck in the ADF rollers. After I removed those, the unit mostly feeds
paper fine into the ADF. Another win for Canon reliability.
