buying advise 3D printer

I think the rounded corners is not helping too. I will try to change it to rectangular sharp corners.
 
Do you have an original Epson tray to compare? What are the edges like ... sharp or rounded ? Also, depending on how the Epson handles the tray, the thickness may also play a role. A tray too thick or too thin could interfere with proper feeding and cause a slight skew.

Note: the above PVC-ID was already printed with my Canon TS705 printer and is only inserted inside the hole (if somebody thinks it is printed with the ET-8550). Now I understand there is no ET-8550 PVC-ID card tray, because it is the driver that blocks the usage of modified PVC-ID trays. Strangely the ET-18100 can print PVC-ID cards. I will modify the PVC-ID card 3D stl file again to make rectangular corners instead of the rounded ones, because I think this causes the tray to be slightly drawn into the printer at an angle.

The long and winding road....

Epson and Canon sometimes seem to enjoy annoying the customers with the features of their drivers. As you pointed out, no consistency between different Epson models when you print from a tray. Likewise, the Canon driver of some printers stablishes a max, print length, for no apparent reason at all.
Probably we all guess that this is just a marketing policy. It's a convoluted way of "suggesting" the purchase of a newer or more expensive model if the customer wants that extra feature, Nothing new under the sun. :rolleyes:

I could fight the problem of the slight slope with free transforming (rotating) the image with -2.2 degrees in order to get the image aligned across the PVC ID card. Not ideal, but it works.

Try this..
You could try increasing the thickness of your tray by 1mm and that might help hold it straight when printing, just increase the STL file in height in your slicer before making the Gcode file..
