Hi
I've had a Brother MFC8460N for a few years and am now getting an issue where one side of the page is hardly printing (see attached file).
I have changed the drum and the toner but it makes no difference.
Any advice to resolve this or is the printer dead

Are you using OEM toner and drum unit.. Because it looks like an in compatibility issue..

@iedwards1919, try watching this video :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn6DpDC8g8U
The part related to your problem starts at 17'14".
Nevertheless, it's worth watching it all, in case you stumble into another issue in the future.

If the problem remains after following the advices of the video, it might be what @The Hat says, a third party drum or toner cart. slightly out of specifications. For instance,: the drum and toner roller aren't perfectly parallell each other.

Have you checked the remaining percentage of the printer parts ? Not toner or drum but fusers and other components with a limited lifespan of XXXXXX pages.
If you have used the machine for some years, possibly some of these parts are quite worn and should be replaced, although it's probable, if they are still available, that costwise it would be more convenient to purchase a new printer.
